Psalm 100

100:1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
3 Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

You know the Geico marketing campaign, "So easy a caveman could do it." This Psalm is that easy. It is the first Psalm I ever memorized, and our family memorized it together when my daughter was only three.

This is a party Psalm. God is inviting us to enjoy, to experience his goodness. Like the sheep at a rave, we are in the courts of God, no longer held out of the gate by the bouncer, we are singing and dancing and enjoying him.

I love that this Psalm reminds us that this blessing is not just for us. Everyday I go through my life thinking it is all about me, and at my best thinking it is all about those in my life. God's plan is much bigger than that. It is for all generations. I am just one part of that huge mysterious story.
